Back to School Essentials for Her Fall Semester

Back to School Essentials

Getting ready to head back to school? Before you pack your bags, make sure you’ve got the right gear! While every girl has her own style, there are definitely some essential accessories that every girl needs in her dorm room or apartment to help her get through the year with ease and style! In this article, we’ll be talking about some of our favorite back-to-school essentials that will help you stay organized and cute all semester long!

Make the Most of Your Space

No matter if you’re going back to school virtually or in person, it’s important to make the most of your space. If you’re living in a dorm, that means utilizing every nook and cranny for storage. Command strips are your best friend when it comes to decorating your dorm walls without damaging them. Get some cute storage bins to store things like extra blankets, clothes, shoes, etc. under your bed. If you have a desk in your room, make sure it’s clear of any clutter so you can use it as a study space. Finally, personalize your space with photos and other mementos to make it feel like home.

Wardrobe Essentials

When it comes to clothes, fall is all about layering. Start with a few basics like a light sweater, a long-sleeved shirt, a couple of pairs of jeans, and even dresses that you can layer fashionably from Sweet Salt. Add some fun pieces like a scarf, a long wool coat, or a denim jacket for warmer days, and a matching sneaker tee to keep the fashion even under layers. Don't forget the shoes! An essential pair of boots and some comfortable sneakers will help you get around campus comfortably all year long. It’s best to leave expensive jewelry or heirlooms that can be lost or misplaced at home and bring only meaningful pieces. For example, pieces of jewelry that have meaning to you such as these Christian women's bracelets can be daily reminders and easily replaced if lost.

Tech Essentials

A laptop is an obvious back-to-school essential, but don't forget about the software you'll need to help you get through the semester. Make sure you have a word processing program like Microsoft Word and consider picking up a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud if you're planning on doing any design work. A good note-taking app will also come in handy, like Evernote or OneNote. And of course, don't forget your chargers!

Hygiene Essentials

A good skincare routine is essential for keeping your skin looking its best, especially during the colder months. A face wash, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen should be part of your daily routine. Buy a pack of body wash to save money versus buying individual bottles, do the same with deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, and feminine wash since these items are used daily and will go out faster than anything else you use. If you’re sharing a bathroom, be sure to buy a caddy to store all of your hygiene products, which also makes it easier to take in and out of the bathroom with you.

Beauty Essentials

For makeup, a foundation, concealer, powder, blush, mascara, and gloss are must-haves. And don’t forget the essentials for your hair: shampoo, conditioner, hair serum, and a heat protectant. Bring along a blow dryer, a straightener, and a curling iron. Other hair accessories to consider are scrunchies, hair clips, headbands, and even baseball caps for those days when you don’t have time to do your hair.

School Supplies

A good backpack is essential for carrying all of your supplies, and there are a lot of great options out there. Make sure to get one that's comfortable to wear and has enough space for everything you need. Other important items on your list should include a planner to help you stay organized, pens and pencils, highlighters, calculators, and any other school-specific supplies you might need.

Food Essentials

It's important to stock up on healthy snacks and easy-to-make meals so you can fuel your body and mind throughout the semester. Here are some of our favorites

•  Make a huge batch of granola in advance that is ready to grab from the pantry, then add fresh fruit or other toppings as desired when you need a quick breakfast or snack!
•  Have fresh fruit like apples, bananas, oranges, etc. on hand so you have a quick source of healthy energy whenever hunger strikes. These also make great additions to your morning cereal!
•  Go green: Vegetables provide vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants that will help keep you feeling energized all day long. Pre-cut veggies such as broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots are perfect for snacking anytime with hummus or ranch dressing – they're delicious dipped in tzatziki sauce too!

The best way to ensure a successful semester is to be prepared with the right supplies. From the perfect backpack to stylish yet comfortable shoes, these back-to-school essentials will have her ready to take on whatever the semester throws her way.
