4 Smoothie Recipes for Glowing Skin in 2024

Smoothie Recipes For Glowing Skin

During the colder months, often our skin suffers. It may feel dry, sensitive, or simply not glowing. So, luckily there are some amazing and easily accessible ingredients out there that your skin will love. Let’s look at how these ingredients can be incorporated into smoothies for a quick and easy way to give your skin a much-needed boost in 2024!

Although it isn’t mentioned in any of the smoothie recipes, the sunshine vitamin, vitamin D, is important for the skin. Yet, make sure you stay out of the sun during the peak hours of 11am and 3pm and wear the best sunscreen whenever you are in the sunshine. For those who want to limit their sunlight exposure, taking supplements is a good alternative!

1) Glowing Skin Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

a) 1 frozen banana
b) 1 handful frozen pineapple
c) 1 handful spinach
d) ½ avocado
e) 1tbsp lemon juice
f) 200ml coconut water
g) 1 teaspoon matcha powder (optional)

To make this smoothie, simply blend all the ingredients together and enjoy! The reason this smoothie is great for your glowing skin is that it is packed full of vitamin C thanks to pineapple, spinach, and lemon juice. Vitamin C can help you to maintain healthy-looking skin, so having plenty of it in this smoothie is amazing! Prepare for this smoothie to work wonders, as it can help you not only feel great but give you glowing skin.

The avocado will provide some healthy fats and the banana will make it taste great. Although the color might be slightly off-putting, I can assure you it tastes amazing. You could replace coconut water with water or even plant-based milk to get a creamier consistency. Although the addition of matcha powder is optional, it gives it such a vibrant color and matcha is amazing for the digestive system, so is worth including if you have some!

2) Dry Skin Chocolate Collagen Smoothie

Ingredients:

a) Collagen powder (advised amount on the packet)
b) 1 cup plant-based milk (my favorite is oat)
c) 1 frozen banana
d) 1tbsp nut butter
e) 30g cocoa powder

Again, to make this smoothie, take all the ingredients and give them a good blend. Although collagen might sound like a weird ingredient, collagen can help to increase skin hydration. You can access collagen quite easily online through a wide range of different supplement websites.

Collagen on its own doesn’t taste particularly nice, yet when you drink this smoothie it will just feel like a really good chocolatey treat! You can also get flavored collagen powder, however in this case, unflavoured works best. Collagen is definitely worth trying if you struggle with dry skin.

If you are trying to up your protein intake, this is a good opportunity to add a scoop of chocolate protein powder. Reduce the amount of cocoa powder to 10 grams, add in a 30g scoop of protein powder and then increase your plant-based milk to around 1 and a half cups. You will still have a delicious chocolate smoothie but you will also have a good boost of protein! Some people have noticed that whey protein isn’t great for the skin, so vegan pea protein is a good alternative.

3) Youthful Berry Smoothie

Ingredients:

a) 1tbsp sunflower seeds
b) 1 handful of spinach
c) 1 handful raspberries
d) 1 handful of blueberries
e) 1tbsp greek or dairy-free yogurt
f) 100ml water

Once again, give all the ingredients a good blend! This smoothie is full of vitamin E, particularly from the sunflower seeds and spinach, although berries also contain a small amount of this essential vitamin. Out of all the smoothies, this one is the tastiest. It is creamy, sweet and so quick to make. Vitamin E is commonly known for its ability to help keep the skin healthy and youthful, so being able to access plenty of it in this smoothie is fantastic.

4) Brightening Turmeric Latte

Ingredients:

a) 300ml warm plant-based milk (I love almond or oat)
b) ½ teaspoon turmeric
c) ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
d) ¼ teaspoon vanilla paste

Add your dry ingredients to your mug and mix them together. Gradually whisk in the warm plant milk to prevent any lumps and you’re done! This technically isn’t a smoothie, but I couldn’t miss it off as turmeric is famous for its ability to give the skin a much-needed boost.

Turmeric drinks have traditionally been given to brides to brighten their skin, yet turmeric can also help to reduce the chance of chronic inflammatory diseases thanks to its natural anti-inflammatory properties. Have one of these lattes a day and you may notice a boost in your skin in the next few weeks.

If this doesn’t sound very appealing and you’re more of a sweet person when it comes to drinks, try to include turmeric in other meals. Turmeric is delicious in curries or sprinkled onto sweet potatoes with smoked paprika. This controversial drink isn’t for everyone, but turmeric has long been associated with improved skin, so it is worth trying.

Final Thoughts

If you can integrate these smoothies into your diet a few times a week you could notice a big difference in your skin in 2024. I always keep a supply of these fruits frozen, as you can buy bags of frozen fruit for much cheaper than fresh and it is just as nutritious.

It is always important to monitor your vitamin intake and these smoothies should help with that. If you are concerned that you aren’t consuming enough vitamins, you could take multivitamin tablets, or specific vitamins like magnesium supplements in order to focus on areas of deficiency. Any concerns about deficiency should be discussed with a medical professional!

Something else to be mindful of is your teeth with sweet smoothies like these. Drink through a straw to avoid contact with the teeth as the sugars in fruit can be dangerous when it comes to oral health. Any concerns about deficiency should be discussed with a medical professional, and any oral health problems should be looked over by a dentist Altrincham based, or local to you!
