Which Breast Surgery is Right for You in 2024?

Breast Surgery

Breasts are amazing since they come in all shapes and sizes. Not one set of boobs are the same, just like the women who have them. With this being said, it is easy to assume that most women want larger breasts, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are countless reasons why some women need to change the appearance of their breasts such as back and neck pain or they have the opposite and they have low self-esteem due to the lack of breasts they have or are unhappy about how clothes fit them. Although we should all be empowered with the way we look naturally, there are always others who feel the need to get things sorted in different ways.

There is a wide range of different breast surgery options to choose from, and it can be even harder to find the right surgery for you. It was recorded in 2020 Americans spent over $9 billion in cosmetic surgery with nearly 200,000 people having breast augmentation surgery with 130,000 of them being aged between 18 and 35. When you are fed up and want to get your breasts sorted for your reason, well, that is the best place to start. Whether you have breasts that are too large, the shape is off, or are too small, all these concerns have their own procedures. This goes without saying, but if you are unsure what you need, it is best to have a consultation with your surgeon so they can discuss all the different avenues that you can go down. In this article, we will go through some of the key procedures for some of the main reasons to get breast surgery.

Breast Augmentation With Implants

Breast augmentations used to be one of the most popular procedures in 2018 with the USA owning over 17% of the market with Brazil following after with just under 15%. In 2024, more and more women are moving away from having their breasts enlarged and are now wanting something more natural and smaller. However, if a woman is wanting to have larger breasts, then having breast augmentation surgery is definitely the best surgery for you. Implants come in two forms, saline or silicone. The breast involves making small incisions underneath the fold of your breast and inserting the implant.

Many factors need to be considered and consulted with your surgeon, such as the size, the type and shape of the implants, and also where they will be placed. (under or on top of the pectoral muscle).

What is the best method for breast augmentation?

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Not many people know this but there's more than one method to follow for breast augmentation. Fat transfer breast augmentation is a different method and is a great way to subtly increase their breast size by half a cup size up to a whole cup size, any more than that and implants will be the better option. This is also known in many different names such as fat grafting, lipo-filling, or living fat transfer.

Fat transfer breast augmentations use a form of fat reduction surgery that is called tumescent liposuction. This form of liposuction aims to remove small stubborn fat pockets from the body. When having this type of liposuction, the surgeon will get it from either the thighs, the abdomen, or the flanks. Due to the fat being from different areas, the fat will first be purified and made safe. Once safe, it will then be injected into the breasts in layers so that the patient can get the best outcome possible.

Breast Lift

Breast augmentations are a fantastic option to aid in making breasts larger but they definitely don’t help with sagging. It’s not easy being a woman, our bodies are constantly changing with the likes of their age, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, whether they are breastfeeding, and much more, but gravity definitely takes its toll with stretching the breasts.

For many women, having healthy-looking breasts is more important than having large ones. When a woman notices that their nipples are pointing to the floor and the breasts are sagging, then they will opt for a breast lift which is also called a mastopexy. The surgery includes making on the rest which then has the fat and tissue repositioned as well as cutting away excess skin and repositioning the nipple where necessary. The key thing to remember when having this surgery is that it doesn’t prevent your breasts from sagging again so it's important to have a healthy balanced diet and make sure that you have had all your children.

Breast Reduction

Many women are unfortunate enough to have extreme back, shoulder, and neck pain from the size of their large breasts. Some women can deal with this all their life, but there are also a select number of women who choose to opt for a happier life by having a breast reduction which in turn, relieves their constant pain, this is also known as a mammoplasty. This procedure consists of having the fat, tissue, and some skin removed from the breast through an incision and liposuction to remove the rest of the excess tissue. The procedure itself is very similar to a mastopexy, the difference is that a mammoplasty concentrates on removing the skin and tissues whereas a mastopexy removes the skin only.

Breast Implant Removal

Many women decide to get breast augmentation surgery but then later on in life decide to remove them due to age, change of lifestyle or they could even be causing pain. When you have breast implants, they need replacing every 10-15 years so many women decide to have them taken out after the first set is old. The procedure is simple and the surgeon will aim to use the same incision as they used last time to save excess scarring. It is important to know that after the surgery, the breasts will look empty at the start but once healed, the breast skin will start to retract and heal and will look normal again.

Now we have discussed all of the different types of breast surgery that you can have, it is now time for you to decide which treatment is best fitted for your needs.
